The weather in Borneo is quite hot sometimes. They hit at 37 degrees, as per my friend who’s working in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The Hotel
The Hotel Grandis is one of the luxurious hotels in Kota Kinabalu that offers a great ocean view from some of their rooms and in the Sky Blu Bar on the 12th floor. It was built in a very great location in the center of Kota Kinabalu.
Upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu, I decided to walk around to find the hotel instead of riding in a cab. After 15 minutes, I finally found the property. The welcoming staff of the hotel assisted me in my check-in process. After presenting my passport to the beautiful young lady at the front desk gave my key card with the short briefing of the hotel policy.
The Room
My booked room was in the Studio Deluxe Seaview, also known as Junior Suite, located on the 11th floor of the building, covering an approximate floor area of 60sqm. It is very spacious with 1 King Size Comfy Bed, an Executive Writing Desk, a Wide Flat Screen TV, a Sofa, a Closet equipped with In-room Safe and Room Slippers, a Bottle of Complimentary Water, a Tea and Coffee Facilities, a Toilet with Bidet, a Bathtub with an excellent sea view, a Hot and Cold Rain Shower, a Branded Hotel Grandis Toiletries, a Bathrobe, a Flat Iron with Ironing Board, a Can of Complimentary Soft drinks and Chips, with a basket of fruits. Studio Deluxe Room had a lot of inclusion and privilege, like free coffee, Tea, Soft drinks throughout the day, and afternoon snacks in Grandis Club Lounge exclusively for their Suite Room guest and member.
Hotel Grandis has a lot of facilities to offer to their guests. They have a rooftop, family-friendly swimming pool with a fantastic view of Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park (Gaya Island). A Sky Blu Bar offers a wide variety of Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and Foods while enjoying the weather and the view. A Piano Lounge, A Gymnasium, A Club Lounge exclusively for their Suites Room guests and members with a complimentary drink.
Hotel Grandis was ideally located in the heart of Kota Kinabalu, just beside the big mall of Suria Sabah and about a 5-minute walk to Jesselton Port. I was managing to wake up late, just enough time to go to the port.
I was so happy that the staff was more than glad to have me in their hotel and a warm welcome upon arrival, especially to the Duty Manager. The whole afternoon on my second day, I was in their Club Lounge to relax and have a glass of fruit juice with the excellent conversion of the beautiful lady name Shanny. She was very entertaining with a full smile on her face.
Overall I enjoyed my stay so much.
